Is GraphicsGale really improving your pixel art or would any other program work fine?

It helped improve my workflow drastically, and thus boosted my skills. Get something built for pixelart, though. Don't use Photoshop.

ProMotion and GraphicsGale are by far the best ones out there.

I actually realized that I was much more comfortable working with photoshop than with GraphicsGale. It might need some time to get used to though.

Yeah, Gale is a bitch to learn. But I never once wanted to go back after I learned how the program works.

I really like Gale's pixel specific tools and animation features, so that's why it's my tool of choice :)
