Considering this is a silent film from 1926... The special effects are pretty amazing. And, to tell the truth, I'm kind of bored with CGI-everything.

I believe that 3:12 is probably THE scariest thing I have ever seen. Who knew that turning the head with glowing eyes could be so powerful!

This is not a horror film. It's Faust!

Im only 23, so i can only compare this film to what i know in my lifetime, thus far. To me, this film is like an ominous dreadful fantasia. No words spoken. Simply music and powerful symbols paired with distinct expressions to convey the feelings intended to be felt in the film. ::I do say, Bravo::

There is a certain quality to older movies that is seldom found in films today. Though I have nothing against modern cinematography, sometimes the resourcefulness shown in antique film-making gives an air of authenticity that simply cannot be achieved through any amount of CGI and digital editing. It seems so much less so nowadays, but film-making is an art, not a science.

Terrifying when Mephisto turns to face the viewer.
