The CX was about to go for the pass at half way, but the oncoming car caused him to let off the throttle. That, and the XR rider weighed around 125 lbs vs around 180 lbs for the CX rider.

no kidding ookie. They were road tested in '78 to run the 0-60 in about 6 seconds. That guy was shifting at 4000, these bikes don't wake up until 6k.

Either the driver of that CX was too fat, it wasn't running right, or he just plain didn't open it up. I know my CX is a LOT faster that that one.

I have a gl500 silverwong. Basically a cx500 I have ridden many xr 250's. Even if the XR wins off the linw th cx would smokw it. They would do close to 120mph. XR 250's are weak, and I like them.

strange cause a stock cx 500 can burn a nissan skyline from 0 to 100km/s so that cx must really be out of tune

yep, CX not too bad...and still around after years. HOWEVER, it is true that CX owners probly weigh more than XR250 owners on average. By the time you get to XR 600/650, the weight might be even, but only cos you have to be a big strong guy to handle and lift up yr XR6.
