  • You are right about "typical consumer washers" being top loaders. However, front loaders are not a novelty in the US, they have been around for a very long time, since the 50's, but they were typically for commercial use in laundry facilities. When they were available for consumer purchase, they were very high end and expensive. This model represents a high quality product, but one that is affordable. I paid less than $850 USD for both the water and dryer.

  • So this type of washing machine is new in USA??

  • @borys289 It's a fairly new model, but I'm not sure of its exact release data. There are many models from other competitors to Maytag that are similar in many ways, like LG, GE Profile, Samsung, but I chose this Maytag because of the fantastic reviews, and also because Maytag once had a revered name in home appliances, and I'd like to think they can still do that well. :)

  • Does your washer knock on high speed spin cycle? Mine is brand new and in normal wash, it its very quiet. When is ramps up to real high spin, it knocks.

  • @TheSalmonsinTexas However american top loaders wm aren't as good as our front loaded. Lot of people buy front loaders in Europe beccause this type of wm is standard in Europe and cost 400$ even cheaper (u can buy it for 300$). Actually I don't know why but people in Europe not all but most don't use dryer, but I know that every american family have it. I've never been in USA but all my friends who was saying that typical american wm is horrible and don't wash a clothes.

  • @TheSalmonsinTexas ok but I seee that front loading washing machine are novelty in USA. Typical american washing machine is loaded from the top and even don't have detergent container!! In europe front loading wm are popular since 1970's even earlier.
