Peak to Peak did have an incident where one of the gondolas fell 500 feet to the valley floor. Fortunately they were testing and no one was in it because that would surely have been fatal, my geography teacher was riding it just a couple days before the incident.

after that incident people for a little while were getting a feeling about the peak to peak possibly breaking too until the people said that the towers on it are designed to make sure ice jacking doesnt happen

This was not a freak accident. It was totally preventable. The manufacturer issued a service bulletin in Dec 06 addressing this exact issue.
Sounds like WB needs a spokesperson that is actually knowledgeable about lift systems.
