A time lapse movie of activity at the Adelaide Airport (South Australia).

Things to note: (1) Plane at nearest gate leaves, then returns for service of its tail section. (2) Every evening, most planes' water tanks are drained onto the tarmac.

  • Is it one gate with airbridges for aircraft bigger than B737 and A320? I was curious to find out when passing through Adelaide airport yesteday

  • The middle gates can handle B747 aircraft, and large glass doors can seal the waiting area for customs control. Most of the gates can be used by B767/B777/A330/B747 aircraft. The bulk of ADL traffic is B737/A320. The far ends of the terminal are for commuter aircraft to Port Lincoln, Mt Gambier, etc. (generally Saab 340s) but you go down stairs and walk out onto the tarmac. None of the gates support A380 with simultaneous top/bottom access, but the main runway and main taxiways are A380 capable.

  • why is it at night all the gates are full?

  • The gates are full for these reasons: (1) there are fewer airplanes flying at night and those non-flying planes need to be somewhere, and (2) Adelaide has a very strict 11:00 pm to 6:00 am curfew on commercial flight operations.

  • Gotta replace the webcam link, AAL has heavily updated their website for tourism and all. The webcam also loads every 60 seconds now =.="

  • @KenanVideos

I've updated the webcam link. Thanks for the tip.

  • The reason for that is there is curfew. All flights in and out by 11pm and then it opens again at 6am... Just like Sydney..

  • @xxLozxx55

Yep. I live near this airport and it would be bloody annoying if we had to hear jet engines at 3.00 AM.
