  • WOW!!! I lived in Tachikawa from 1969-1973 and a part of me is still there. I was 13 and left when I was 17 and i had the time of my life, I could write a novel. I worked at Fairmont coffee shop out Main Gate next to the train station then a Italian type restaurant called San Remo right outside Main Gate. I had a lot of Japanese friends, most didn't speak English and I learned Japanese pretty quickly. Thanks so much for the footage!!!! I unfortunately didn't take many pictures of the base.

  • Omg! I think that's my grandmother Yoko. 0:19

  • Thanks for the memories! That was Summerland, wasn't it? I lived in Japan ca 1967-1970 (for 2 /12 years total). Does anyone recall the park like play area called the "big circle" (or something like that)?

  • My father was an Air Force pilot stationed at Tachikawa. I attended Yamato High School in 1961. Could be other years, I just don't remember. My sister and brothers & I also attended school at Ashiya AFB in 1958 - 59. I'd like to hear from Richard Stanley, Bradford Blackburn & Maston O'Neal. If you're out there please give me a hollar!

  • I lived her from 1964 to 1967. My older sister, Sally was Miss Tachikawa 1965 and graduated from Yamato High. And yes the BX was right by the movies.
