http://lisagloria.blogspot.com/p/training-videos.html Quick demonstration and explanation of oil paint premixing with artist Lisa Gloria. Premixing strings of values for a composition of a still life of white roses and teacup. I teach this in all my online and landbased workshops, so sign up for a workshop to experience it in more detail. Thanks for watching!

  • where do you get flake white??

  • @jetsonjoe Dick Blick , usually, but you can get it at any art supply store

  • I do enjoy seeing the palette laid out in advance, it's true. I agree that almost everything here will need to be altered in some way, but they are often 80% true, and each mixture is an excellent starting point. In addition, this is a mental exercise akin to doing a value study and I find that preparation to be very helpful. This was only a second day mixture - on 3rd or final days, I'll have 11+ values for each. I like to think of this palette as "interpretive." Thanks for your comment!

  • Gosh, you could have completed a painting in the time it took to set up your pallet. I am sorry ,but I would have lost all interest in my painting if I had to go through all that pre-mixing everytime.

  • what the fuck is this video???? every man with two eyes can do this lol

  • Actually you save time by premixing. Any time spent mixing in the beggining is more time spent painting later.

  • nice

  • Interesting "string theory". I may experiment with this. Thanks!
