I have no idea how he does it, but it should (if the thickness of the spine and poly are known - and they should be) be trivial to design the mold ribs so the top side of the poly surface (and so, the board) are exactly the right shape.
Of course, if you made the mold ribs exactly the "right" shape and then put on the wood and poly - the ends would come up sooner - just as you describe.
It'd be a different working method for each, both of which should be accurate if done right. :)
I have one concern about this method vs the traditional mold useing more then 4 ribs. You take the time to make the dimensions and mold perfect, but then put the wood spine and poly mold surface on top. Wouldnt this offset your running length slightly since the ends come up sooner then the ribs do.
thank you so much for all your videos this has really helped me and now i think im finally gonna build a snowboard because the way you made your mold would really save me some money from the original way of doing where you need about alot more mold ribs which cost a lot more so thank you so much
