In a new city, a familiar face emerges out of the darkness. This short film was created and inspired out of love for Sam Raimi's Darkman.

A WORD FROM CHRIS

With the hope of reigniting a demand for Darkman, with myself in the director's chair, I created this short film. Shot on a zero dollar budget in just 2 hours, my goal was to demonstrate what I could do with the character. I wanted to show a more realistic Darkman with no whimsical music or operatic undertones. I feel that a modern day Darkman would be more appealing if it were done as straight forward as possible.

But I definitely wanted to keep as many signatures as possible, starting with the London fog rain coat, the hat & bandages all the way down to his red shirt. I really wanted him to be as familiar and instantly recognizable.

I think for a seven minute movie, I accomplished my goal and with any luck, should something official involving Darkman ever come into development, hopefully this video will serve as convincing cover letter. On that note, Mr. Raimi, if you're watching this video or reading this note- call me.

  • I never noticed this in the Darkman films, but it's been a while, did Darkman keep himself bandaged up beneath his face masks? If so, how did he open up the masks to talk?

If this was a fanfilm only thing because it was cheap to do so, that's understandable.

  • @FaxModem1 yeah he had some bandages on in part 1.

  • It was great! But Darkman sounds to much like batman.

  • @RobinsTaste you take that up with liam neeson

  • I wonder if you plan on doing a Booster Gold Film?

  • @TheIrishjim if you got money for me to make one, sure.

  • Oh, Hell yes. Darkman remains one of my favorite superhero films ever made. It always killed me that the character never quite took off. Aside from an enjoyable crossover with Army of Darkness he never even made the transition to the comic book page. A new film today would be great, especially since in today's economic climate, a superhero who is essentially homeless would carry a certain relevance.

  • That was cool, I wonder if you'll do something with G.I. Joe someday.

  • @ThatJeffreyManus I know! I got that movie! : ) However, I don't remember his voice to be that dark. Raspy and painful, yes, but not dark. Could be wrong though. The Shadow! Well, hope the result would be better then the actual movie. Seem horrible.

  • Alice In Chains!

  • @RobinsTaste It's an actual movie. Originally the movie was supposed to be for The Shadow but they couldn't get the rights.
