  • @Jamsessionroom1337 You don't need to study music in order to form opinions on it. To say otherwise is just stupid. Just because someone spends years of practicing technique, studying guitar ,etc does not mean someone is going to create interesting music. To even think that the only reason Shawn Lane practiced so hard is to play some fast diminished runs for an instructional video is an insult to him. If you honestly think this is the height of his playing then I feel sorry for you.

  • They should make a South Park eppisode on him.

  • My wife says he sounds like Whoopi Goldberg when she hears him speak.

  • Anyone else think he reminds you of Ralfie May?

  • holy crap he sounds like moot booxle

  • now i feel like throwing my guitar in the trash. i think i will right now.

  • so that's why aliens visit this planet

Btw, it'd be a double flat 7 (bb7), not a flat 7, and the non-related blues scale you mentioned is nonexistent with classical music :P

  • @Flatted357

That's a subjective look at it I suppose. Listen to some of his live jams where he uses stuff like this. There's a few good ones on here.

I consider it more useful from a symmetrical standpoint, for transposition and modulation.

  • You do know that Shawn was an alien right? I mean no human can possibly play anywhere near that fast.

  • Wow, if you listen to Buckethead, you can sure know where did he get those dimished licks.
