In this role, Agassi works directly with governments, finance, automobile manufacturers and technology companies to install, scale, and operate a regional and global infrastructure necessary for electric vehicles. With Project Better Place, he will manage the operation of international electric vehicle fleets by investing in, installing and operating countrywide charging infrastructures for electric cars, as well as working with partners to make the cars available.

If this works, it will be the best thing that ever happened in private transportation. o/t, but whats with the ppl that want to put "drivetones" on their cars? there are two 'reasons' given for these: 1) they will make noise for pedestrians (hybrids also make a tiny bit of noise -_-) 2) they want their cars to sound cool. just like the assholes who put those fucking tailpipes on their little shitboxes.

And I don't see why electric cars in theirself should be a bigger incentive for energy companies to switch rapidly to renewables instead of just using coal and sequestration and max 15 % renewables in 30 years. In my country, the four big power companies E.on, RWE, Vattenfall and EnBW are already monopolists, anyway...

Don't get so overexcited: the dominance of oil and fossil fuels will continue to be around until at least 2040. You don't just replace a billion cars in a few years. And Agassi doesn't really say if the renewable technologies (csp and wind) really can supply so much energy (I expect 20% in 2050). As an energy storage idea it's absolutely great! But where do you get the material for 1 billion car batteries?

But it's great that somebodie's doing something!
