The Faux-Action Girl and False Independence

In the end, it boils down to three problems:
1) Mostly male writing staff
2) The attitude in society that the action character should be the one to save the day
3) Fandoms who are also interested in shipping, perhaps even moreso than writers at times
1, for obvious reasons.
2, it's not that the cunning characters don't win (eg, the Doctor), but explains the focus given to action characters that don't do anything in the end.
3, the fact that fandoms can go into "war" over such a stupid thing

@CherryFairy02 That's what the late Dwayne McDuffie did in Ben 10 Alien & Ultimate Alien.

In Cinderella there was two boy rats and I think one girl rat.

Aaahhh, you're always saying what I'm thinking!

The Faux action girls that I hate are the ones that have badass powers and skills yet always need to be saved. So like HOTD you have Rei, Saeko, and Saya. Rei and Saeko are trained fighters yet Rei always needs to be saved by Takashi who is not a trained fighter
And Masashi Kishimoto even admitted that he is bad at writing females hence all the kunochi are all about the healing. Sakura really does not do shit

Toph even mentioned in season3 that everyone got to have their special little hear to heart with Zuko except her

Wow... honestly took the words right out of my mouth.

ORORO MUNROE FTW!!
Also, Dani Moonstar!

@Maikkacrackshiper13 lol yes.

Morgana can't do shit because she is the villain. Villains often get short changed in their capacity to get things done. I don't think that qualifies her as a faux-action girl.

@Maikkacrackshiper13 Rocket... Firework... Whatever
Another thing is that you'd probably prefer a pile of dung to Katara. XD
(I really hope that people don't take this literally, then again, this is the internet.)

@DarkKendall Noo, lol. I do think Katara is a good character, just not one I care for.

I agree with you for the most part but I don't think your comparisons with Ariel and Cinderella are really fair. Ariel is used to swimming with a fin and now all of a sudden she's got legs. Swimming with a fin and swimming with legs are different things. And does Cinderella look like she can break down a door?? And it's a Disney movie, the mice are just part of the fun. Even the most independent women need help from time to time and I prefer characters who know their limits and know when they n

@AragornHottie Yes, but here is the thing. Throughout the entire movie Cinderella does nothing for herself...everything happens for her. And for Ariel, she only does two things in the entire movie of her own accord without manipulation: save Eric and indirectly killing the two eels. (cont.)

@AragornHottie Everything else in the movie is Sebastian, Flounder and Scuttle do mostly everything. Who saves Ariel: sebastian & flounder? who gets Ariel and Eric to almost kiss, Sebastian. Who stops the wedding/frees Eric from the spell, Scuttle? Who brings ariel to the wedding, Flounder? Who gets helps Ariel go free from Ursula when she's grabbed, Sebastian and Triton? During the climax of HER OWN MOVIE Eric kils Ursula. And best part, who lets her be human in the end, Triton?

I'd say Morgana isn't a fair comparison. She gets a lot of stuff done. The whole finale of one of the seasons (Don't remember which) her and her sister took over the kingdom. yeah, they ended up losing in the end, but not because they're faux action girls, but because they're the evil characther. It's like saying Gannon failed because he was a faux action man instead of saying, "Oh yeah, he failed in the end because he was evil" thus destined to lose.

@Alimaria I've already responded to this further down :) Even when Morgana was good she would rarely be listened, succeed at things or accomplish things without Arthur/Merlin having to step in.
