I was at the freshwater Ballona Wetlands today, checking it out. It was a maze of deteriorating and broken pvc pipes, sprinkler heads, busted up and open green valve switch boxes with wires sticking out, and miscellaneous junk. I saw maybe 10 or so species of birds, not too many more, but no other soul: no hikers, environmentalists, preservationists, docents, tourguides, politicians, or cute youtube videographers. This is where the hubbub over the wetlands ended up. Sad.
