Species: Large Hawk Cuckoo (juvenile).....
Location: Prince of Songkla University Pattani Campus, Pattani, Southern Thailand.....
Equipment: Nikon D7000 SLR with AF-S Nikkor 8-105 mm. DX VR, handheld....
Remark: The bird was rescued this morning (6-12-201) since we're informed that it collided with something i.e building wall or glass window?? as we weren't sure. It's seen falling and was on the ground floor with a bit of moving. We rush to inspect whether it was hurt. Since it's been examined thoroughly nothing could be seen damaged on parts of the body. However, the bird was taken to the laboratory and kept in the pen for observing. After half an hour the bird look agile so we'd like to let it go. This VDO was taken briefly during the body examination before let go.. We wish it good luck and have a safe journey to where it belongs. We were thinking at first that it's a juvenile Hodgson's hawk cuckoo but it wasn't. Actually it's a juvenile Large Hawk Cuckoo and this particular species isn't a resident species of Southern Thailand where we live. This is an evidence as we've run the bird ringing project for 4 years on PSU Pattani Campus; only one individual juvenile Hodgson's Hawk Cuckoo was ringed on last month (27-12-2011) during the migratory period this time of the year, none on this Large Hawk Cuckoo though...perhaps next time.:-))..
