Origin of Christmas, Pagan Holiday or Birth of Christ 1 Hot Facts Girl Megan

Was Jesus really born on Christmas day? What is the origin of Christmas and where do different holiday customs come from like mistletoe, the Christmas tree, Christmas lights, etc? You might be surprised to find that the real origins of this holiday are quite a bit darker than you might think.

This video is by your teacher the hots facts model Megan.

  • It's not "saTURnella" or "SATurnella", it's pronounced "sa-tur-NAIL-ee-a".

  • smart and hot! :-)

  • what about the historical jesus?

  • @interstellarwonder oh, thought you meant 'what a load of bullshit' :)

  • @frederikhoejgaard gifts of joy :D

  • @AndrewKH85 Intention is the only thing that matters. You can't accidentally worship the pagan gods. I put effort and intention into making this day sacred for Lord Saturn. Those worshipping Jesus make it sacred for Jesus. The only connection is that both deities appreciate that the whole world can devote themselves to love and hope on this day

  • @frederikhoejgaard what a load

  • Merry Christmas to all the HotFactsGirls.

  • All human cultures celebrated the winter solstice, which is what came to be Christmas.

It was partially Mediterranean and Northern European. The early catholics allowed the Romans to keep their celebration of the winter solstice and placed Jesus' birthday at that time. In Scandinavia, the vikings celebrated the winter solstice under the name "jul" (Yule in English) - they were allowed to keep their celebration as well. Those two traditions eventually became modern Christmas.
