In this part of the course you will learn to count and how to say how old you are. This course uses pictures of Playmobil toys. The numbers in Esperanto are built in a very regular and logical way like in Chinese. Basically if you can count upto 10 you can count upto 99.

  • does jara mean year?

  • @TheReasonWhyGuy

jaro means year, jara is the adjectival form of jaro

  • Man, this is like a collection of experiences. As going along the video, I started finishing off things like age numbers. I just learn them because of my native Icelandic, English and Norwegian and experiences with Spanish, Latin and German. I think I'll learn Esperanto for the kick of it. Seems interesting.

And I don't think it sounds artificial. What is so artificial about it besides it being so young? Languages have to start somewhere right?

And btw, I'm hoping to become a polyglot.

  • @HimmiJoe

You are right, Esperanto is a language like any other, it just has a shorter history and is easier to learn than many other languages because it has no irregular verbs, etc.

  • Wonderful job. Where are you from?

  • I live in Sydney, Australia. If you would like to see Sydney and Australian animals, you might like to watch my other video called Australiaj bestoj. The commentary is only in Esperanto

  • P0dDels, you're an IDIOT. The idea of Esperanto is not to become a major world language or to replace English and etc. It's goal is to become a common SECOND easily learned language to allow for easy communication between cultures. Look up what you're talking about before making yourself look like an utter retard.

  • this has the most ANNOYING voice in it on earth but as long i learn esparanto i can stand it plus anybody know a country were alot of its inhabitnats speak it because this is a made up language

  • ok...how exactly is the "r" supposed to be pronounced in Esperanto? I've heard it pronounced the English way, the Spanish/Italian way, and now the French way...

  • @JJtheJaxartosaurus It does sound that way come to think of it..

  • LMFA0!! 0:50

  • I sounds like a mixture of german and spanish...

  • Shouldn't this be "Mi havas du jarojn" or perhaps "Mi agxas du jarojn"? Or am I totally off? It almost seems to me as if you are saying "I am two years" as though you are a unit of time.

  • @culacula14 Because lots of words came from spanish and spanish-like languages.

  • @Kanguruo Thanks :)

Though within that time I went from wanting to learn Esperanto, to wanting to learn Logban :)

    Esperanto=Europe and America UNITED!!!

  • @P0dDels Not everyone understands English, it's just the most common language. It makes no sense to force those who do not speak English to have to learn such a difficult language just to be able to communicate with foreign people. If all children were taught Esperanto alongside their home language, everyone could communicate with everyone, and the world would be a less divided place. Open your mind a little bit, you sound like a panicking fool!
