That was my driver....Greg Moore. RIP Greg. Coming out of turn 2 on a lap 10 restart at Fontana Speedway. 10-31-99. His head did NOT come off...pronounced dead at Loma Linda Hosp. about 1 hour later. Severe head and internal injuries.Helio Castroneves got his ride at Penske after this.

There's one more irony about this crash. When Dario Franchitti won the 2005 IRL race at Fontana, they chose to celebrate the win at the (now) paved section where Greg was killed. Some guys do strange ways to honour fallen heroes, but to see Dario celebrate his win seven years later at the site felt, "Greg, wish you were here -- we're bring the celebration here instead."

i didnt really like the guy, he brushed me off, was rude, and didnt give me an autography (was about 12 at the time). however, no one deserves to die like that especially at such a young age. rip.

This was such a sad day. I watched the race on TV. When they announced that Greg was dead, I was stunned. Everybody was.
