old,yes. but not obsolete. when there are no more older cars and truck it will then be obsolete. This is used for Autos made in the early 1980's up to 2002. I use it when setting the cam retard in my 1997 gmc. If not for this little machine I would have to pay 80.00 to 150.00 to have it dialed in each time. I am a back yard mechanic, so this was a good option for me. You can still get cartriges on ebay and thru snap on dealers. Last time I checked. this was demanding a price of 500.00 on ebay.
