Composed by Spiro Cardamis http://spirosmusic.com. "THE HYMN OF THOUGHT" was performed by the group SPIRO CARDAMIS & DREAMBAND in Manhattan june 8 2004 at the SATALLA nite club. The video was shot by Omar Faruke.
The concert was given in celebration of the Hellenic Spirit (Olympic games 2004)."
The HYMN of THOUGHT was inspired by a poem written by Greek American poet Dino Makropoulos. In 1997 Spiro & Dino met & this is one of the poems Spiro set music to. It is a 2/4 HASAPIKO with noble character describing the essense of thought that the Greeks so much honoured.
Worth noticing the very words of the chorus: "FAITHFUL PROTECTOR OF (OUR) EXISTENCE NEITHER WILL YOU WIN NOR BE DEFEATED"
Check the orchestral version of the HYMN OF THOUGHT here:

I like this music very much, maybe because it reminds so much of Mikis Theodorakis music.

  • You are very right Aegialeus ...Actually the chorus is very close to a Theodorakis song, i think, ...also the intro & verse have elements reminiscent of Mano's music. My reflection to the music that surrounded me while in Greece I guess...

Check the info of the song to the right where i have a link for the orchestral version of the song featuring baglama & violin.
