From what I saw...she taught herself some basic techniques. Who are the geniuses wearing sandles in a blacksmith shop? Before the forge was even fired up. you should have taught her how to hold the hammer and then how to swing the hammer. Another really cool trick is to hammer on HOT steel.

She is hot, though my wife is prettier. These guys with sandals kill me! Are we going back to the Roman empire? Safety GEAR! Those grinders are ANNOYING! I have one and I can't stand the noise! Ear and eye protection!

@ironmanforge : The only time I ever smack the hammer against the anvil is while I'm repositioning a bar, just to give my right hand something to do. The "strike work, strike anvil", afaik, is something that looked good in a movie sometime.

my grandpa was a blacksmith, then a woodworker. i always loved the blacksmith work, seems real fun. but woodwork is cleaner :)

@ironmanforge Its only my career and passion.
My first ever task as an apprentice was to turn a 25 x 12 bar down to 10mm round and then back to 20 x 10. Jumping it up as I go along. That's moving steel. Lucky for me I'd been bashing on the anvil with dad since I could hold a hammer so it came naturally. Felt sorry for the other green kids
But then again, what would I know.
