Roll tacking practice on Sunday morning of the 1st weekend session by the Welsh National Topper Squad at Pwllheli.
Note the angle of attack, speed, steering, sheeting in/out, shoulders out, grab, tiller straight, bost upright, sheet in steps of each tack.
Some good tacks but they need to sheet in more.

I sail a bit but not that much.... yes the jib is used to assist the main + when you r on a RUN you can use something called "wing on wing" or goose wings
search it up if u don;t know

cool thanks, one more question though, What is the jib used for mostly.. like a genaker and spinaker are used for downwind performance.. the jib is used just to assist the main? I dont know much about sail boats, and any help is great.
Thanks again.

if your racing and you correctly roll tack you won't lose any speed(supposedly) but if you normal tack you can lose speed

whats the advantage to a roll tack to a normal tack?

i have sailed toppers in high wind and low and most conditions. bh there a great boat for learning but i cant explain it they feel so flimsy. its hard to explain but compared to a laser 4.7 it feels less well built. for example in 20 knots i rounded a mark to head upwind, i had a brand new mast/sail on and had depowered well. the mast snapped in a second. the spars are so much thinner. also the steering is kinda dodgy compared to a laser. lol but still topper good boat for learning the skills.
