I only discovered last night that my Father indured the severe "Whitehouse" cruelty back in 1962 , only 4 years before I was born . My heart goes out to all of those who suffered at the hands of the so called "Carers" God Bless

Spent 2 years there saw no swamp. To be sent back three times would be rare indeed. I didn't know anyone who had been. The place was bad but some of these stories are stretchng it a little. It was a point of honor not to make a sound when you got beat. I'm more proud I didn't cry out than anything in my life. Hatton might have thought he won but he really didn't. I was beaten twenty-three times.

I am really sorry to hear that. It should not be. Have you reported the abuse? If so, what has been said or done aft you reported it? Why have things not changed aft. all these years?!?! Do kids still get sent there for petty things that are not criminal like smoking or skipping school like they did in the White House days or has at least that been reformed?

He was there in 2003-2004 and yes he witnessed abuse then. He also was threatened by a staff member that if he didn't shut up ( because he would call me about the abuse he saw, and I would call the hotline) that he wouldn't leave there alive!

Then I am appalled utterly appalled. It almost makes all the boys went through in vain. If at least their torture could have been exposed to end further abuse in other boys then there would at least have been some "good" to come out of it, but if after the abuse has been exposed and life just goes on other than locking the door to the "white house", then it is all in vain. All I can say is "parents hold on to your children with your dear life. Don`t let them fall in the hands of others".

It was the Arthur G. Dozier school for Boys.  What the Florida Industrial School for Boys was renamed in the 1960's.

This was not in the White House building in particular, but was on the campus

Is this the same place as the "white house"? I believe ALL institutions (mental, prisons, orphanages, juvenille, old ppl, physically or intellectually disabled, even public schools, etc) have the potential of abuse and a large majority of them do abuse on some scale. However, I would like to believe after so much exposure of the horrendous abuse at the "white house", measures would be taken to regain the trust of the public & rebuild a good reputation. If no effort has been made I`m disgusted.

Well in 2007 a kid named Justin Caldwell was slammed to the floor and put into a choke-hold by guards...

In the 1980's they were hog-tying children...
