At the Harvard Immunology Recruitment Weekend 2010, Sanket (G2) performs for the other recruits, grad students, and faculty. It's becoming an annual tradition, having started three years back when he was a recruit.

Sorry the video is incomplete -- I ran out of room on my camera.

Sanket Acharya of Nasik, India is a tabla soloist and a ganda-bandh (officially accepted) student of the legendary late maestro Ustad Allarakha.

  • He is a very good Tabla player. Is he a student of Ustad Zakir Hussain. The reason I ask is because his movements are very similar to Ustadji's. Also, the Gat he plays at the beginning is commonly played by Zakir Bhai's students. I enjoyed the Aare laya composition by Thirakwa Khan Saheb. Another composition commonly played by Ustadji's group.
