12 Days ❄ Day 1 (Chapter 1, Part 2)

Thank you for all the wonderful feedback on the first part (: I wasn't expecting that many comments. It truly means a lot to me. Here is the second part of the first chapter. 45+ comments for the next part please. Hope you enjoy it.

By the time it was ten the diner had quietened down. Out of the eight booths two were occupied: one by Linda, the town attorney who was eating her blueberry muffin whilst looking over her documents and the other, by a mother and her toddler. The only sound that resonated through the diner was the soft jazzy Christmas music that played in the background.



Selena was at the counter dispensing sugar into their cylinder shaped containers when the little bell over the door rang indicating a new customer. She looked up from her duties and watched a face that she'd never seen before, sit at an empty booth in the right hand corner and take out the menu from the stand.



Selena took out her pad of paper from the pocket of her apron and walked over to his table. "Welcome to Maggie's Diner. My name is Selena and I'll be your server for today. Would you like to start of with something to drink?"



The young curly haired man looked up from the menu and stared at her. Selena could now see that his eyes were an intense shade of brown with tiny flecks of gold embedded in them. "Can I get a coffee please?" he asked politely. His voice smooth and rich like a red velvet cake, which sent shivers down her spine.




"Coming right up" she said before disappearing to the kitchen. She came back two minutes later and set a coffee cup down in front of him on the table and filled it up with coffee fresh from the pot. "Can I get you anything else?" she inquired.



"Do you still serve breakfast?" he questioned scanning through menu contemplating on what to order.



"Breakfast is served all day here at Maggie's" Selena replied her pen ready to write down his order.



"Ok then can I get an eggs benedict with a side of bacon" he answered placing the menu down onto the table.



"No problem. Your meal should be with you in the next fifteen minutes" she said before walking into kitchen.

Once she came back with his order he had disappeared leaving only a ten-dollar bill and an extra two-dollar tip on the table. "Hmm" Selena furrowed her eyebrows in confusion as she tucked the extra two dollars into her apron pouch.



"Who was that guy you were serving?" a perky curious voice interrupted her thoughts from behind.



Selena turned around to face her fellow waitress and best friend, Leighton. "I have no idea," she replied just as confused.
