An uncut interview from the BBC television documentary "The Root of All Evil?".

Bishop Harries and Richard Dawkins have collaborated on several occasions to promote the proper teaching of science in UK classrooms. This is the full unedited interview, which was originally filmed by IWC for the Channel Four documentary 'Root or All Evil?'

  • There you go - Christians and atheists in peaceful coexistence!

.. Although, I can see Dawkins snobbish tone peaking through at some points.

  • @bermudaguy1 Well, in the Catholic church I attend, a pie chart is released at the end of every year showing where the money from the collection plate goes. Most of it goes to social programs such as feeding and sheltering the homeless and the upkeep of the church.

  • Yeah right.. "Resurrections" were common in fairy-tales in the region both centuries before and after the story about "Jesus"..but somehow the story about "Jesus" should suddenly NOT be a fairy-tale? Even though he admits that the "virgin birth" was a fairy-tale, and no doubt he admits that lots of other bible tales were just tales too. He's grasping for straws, that bishop. Or maybe he's just lying, I've read that a large number of priests in England and Europe don't even believe in God.. : )

  • cool interview :D

  • If churches had been run by people like this bishop, I wouldn't fucking hate it so much. This here is the kind of christian that in spite of my own atheism, there'd be absolutely no hiccups between us if we developed a friendship. I bet there's a bunch of christians out there though who hates Dawkins and after seeing this has the same kind of hatred for the bishop and regards him as a betrayer, which is very sad.

  • I'm absolutely astounded at your such immature comments about the Bishop.

  • @Yaarrr

It's not a virgin birth. To have a baby you need a man and a woman.

What it means is that Jesus came from Virginity. In other word, if you want to follow Jesus' steps, you'll have to recover a certain virginity as well, you'll have to recover the virginity of your mind, throw away everything you learned, give away you fears, your anxieties... to rise again and become the one you were supposed to become.

  • Why would Jewish children be the only ones learning Hebrew? Also what about Greek?

  • The priests first point is so stupid - "Why make a big fuss about the virgin birth?"

BECAUSE IT'S A GOD DAMN FUCKING VIRGIN BIRTH (supposedly).
