More than 500 residents of Isiolo district took to the streets demonstrating against what they termed as interference by a local non-governmental organization into the management of CDF in the area. Waso trust land moved to court in September seeking to block any further spending of the isiolo north constituency fund claiming that there has been misappropriation of funds a claim the demonstrators believe is politically instigated.
The Boran are often invisible to the Kenyan Government. When I lived and worked their, large NGO's provided some cover, but the government officials only came up when ethnic tensions would flare, or before major parliament elections. The Boran need a voice in their own destiny before liberation happens.
