Apple powers the icloud using mountaintop removal coal from Duke Energy, but it doesn't have to be this way. Watch activists from Appalachia take a stand as they stop a coal train headed to Duke's Marshall coal plant. Their homes and their lives depend on it.

Apple must set an example to others. Everybody's inspired by the design and user-friendliness of their products. But, it's not-so-responsible behavior upsets many people. It's time the iCloud service shifts to renewable energy. Maybe, if this doesn't work, mass boycott can persuade it.

I adore Apple. But this must end. I'm sharing this on FB and calling Apple headquarters in Cupertino CA today about this.

Now that Jobs is dead we can't email directly anymore.

Solar and wind are better! Biomass is not another word for food. Biomass power plants burn waste products from logging and agricultural activities. They burn things you can't eat like nut shells and wood waste. Hydropower is awesome! Save a natural treasure and fuck coal!

Nuclear is better but NIMBY keeps us from using it, of course I"d prefer we go totally nuclear. Wind and Solar are not better, biomass is not better, because another word for biomass is FOOD. Tidal is good. Geothermal is good. But the fact is that none of these are in a position to replace coal. Simple reality. Fuck the mountains.

Nuclear is still better. So are hydropower, biomass, wind, solar, tidal and geothermal. One tiny uranium pellet makes as much electricity as 2,000 pounds of coal. Coal is for morons. Besides, Powder River Basin coal is making Appalachian coal obsolete what with its low sulfur content. Fuck coal and preserve the mountains.

the thing that i see most people don't understand is the fact that the majority of these people are doing this FOR the people. listen to them and hear their words, they have suffered and their people are literally DYING because of mountain top removal. it is time to move forward and change the way we get our energy to prevent harm to the people of these areas.

People who care about the Earth more than their fellow human being's warmth, comfort and well being are hippies and neo luddites, and terrible human beings to boot. Prove me wrong.

You're missing the point, 1: Appalachia can produce a shit load more coal than that but you morons won't let it

    2. We'll be selling even more to China if we aren't burning it here at home.

Again, don't be so dumb, hippy.

No, they aren't "Too beautiful to harm" to anyone but earth worshiping neo luddites

The coal won't run out for 200 plus years and by then we won't even be on this fucking planet anymore. Please grow a brain.

Your assertion that I'm not for nuclear power is a strawman. Nuclear power's great, but its not going to replace all the coal being burned on planet Earth. If we stop using the coal, we'll just be selling it to China.

    Don't be so dumb hippy.
