(Updated 7/4/2011) Unlock Guide for All Halo 3 Armors

This shows what the armor permutations look like and how to get them. For the pictures, I used Tural's Player Image Generator. I can't find it anywhere, and the link I used is now dead, so if you find it let me know.

Armor Abbreviations:
C.Q.B. - Close Quarters Battle
E.O.D. - Explosive Ordnance Disposal
E.V.A. - Extra Vehicular Activity
O.D.S.T - Orbital Drop Shock Troopers

Armor Edits:

Armor Edit 1: Thanks to iifezzii for letting me know I forgot the Katana. To get it, you need to get 1,000 GamerPoints from Halo 3.

Armor Edit 2: The Security shoulders are bugged. For me, I had to get 900 Gamerpoints from Halo 3(a.k.a. all the offline achievements). The helmet information is right though, don't worry about that.

Armor Edit 3: Others HAVE gotten Recon, though you must do something special or work for Bungie to get it(I'd recommend being the janitor). The flaming helmet still Bungie Employees only, no one else.

Armor Edit 4: An auto update was released on Xbox LIVE that unlocked Commando shoulders for all(they were bugged & unobtainable).

Armor Edit 5: The introduction of new achievements caused a few hiccups when it comes to unlocking armor. Here are the problems & solutions:

1) I earned 50 EXP and didn't get an achievement or Rogue.
S) Each playlist now tracks it's own EXP count. Global EXP isn't worth too much anymore, but earning the Lieutenant rank in any playlist gets you Rogue. Likewise for O.D.S.T. and Mark V.

2) I have over 1000 GamerPoints on Halo 3 and I STILL didn't get my Katana or Security helmet!
S) Earning them with a mixture of new/old achievements caused this problem. Earning all the original achievements that were bundled with Halo 3 will for sure unlock the armor pieces.

3) CAN I HAZ RECON!?!?!
S) From me, no. From earning Halo 3 and O.D.S.T.'s Vidmaster achievements, yes.

@legocloner11102 Hmm, that's odd, I've never heard of an occurrence like that. You should get that on video(if you can), upload it to YouTube, and take your findings to the Bungie.net forums.

To get recon helmet you hav to get the vid master acheivements
