In this golf lesson instructor Steve Bishop discusses the swing plane and how it relates to the finish. By watching this video you will get a good understanding of where the club should be at different parts of the swing with particular emphaiss on the finish. There is an additional web tip at the end for those of you having problems cupping the left wrist at the top of your backswing.
Excellent video lesson, thanks

timmy, he is showing the average golfer how to hit a straight shot. I am pretty sure most guys on tour can hit a fade or a draw whenever they feel they need to. Once you learn how to hit it straight on plane, its a lot easier to hit a fade or draw.

Next time talk about what kind of shot you are hitting. If it is a straight shot, then it carries some validity, but not for a better player hitting a fade.

Totally dissagree with this lesson because he doesnt talk about what kind of shot he is trying to hit. I am a fader like most people on Tour, and thus you NEED the club coming left and across your body with the club out in front of you. The RELEASE is not done with your wrists, but more of a body turn.When you come down the plane line with the club in front of you, you dont even need to use your hands to release it. Waaaaaay too much thinking in this video.

@RingerDaMan Ooops.. I mean cupped.. not bowed.

@Tigersmundo Ok bye.
For those of you interested, i have about 12 pictures I found on youtube of Ben Hogan at the top of his backswing with a FLAT left wrist. Not a bowed one as Tigersmundo suggests... in case you want proof.
Not one iota of left wrist cupping. None.

@Tigersmundo What mixed message? I am not at all opposed to the idea of shifting the plane line a little to the left if that's what in fact causes a straight shot. But it's STILL necessary to have the club swing on that plane.
Now, what are you talking about with cupped wrist and hand path delivery? I talk about the cupped wrist at the top being a result of a poor left hand grip, but where are you getting this hand delivery stuff?

@Tigersmundo, Have you watched The D-plane by Ringer. If you have watched it, then you would know that Ringer has a very good understanding of D-plane. Any way this video is not about D-plane, its about a finish that can lead to a slice. In fact many hookers have this finish as a "dont go left" compensatory move.

@Tigersmundo Would love to know how the geometry is wrong.
I have watched the D-Plane video that Brian put together. I think it's very informative and could be very helpful. But I'm going to reserve judgement on it until the conference here in Phoenix.
Lastly, this is not a video intended to talk about all the exceptions to the geometry. There are of course many players who don't finish this way, but they cause their impact alignments in different ways. My geometry is still sound.
