Basic tutorial on Parallel compression and how to use/route in logic

Hi all this is an educational channel for students at Halesowen College (UK). The channel will gradually fill up with tutorial videos for mainly Logic Pro and some other pro audio software. Please make requests for tutorial videos...but priority will be given to my students. Please also feel free to use the videos for your own purpose, I would would be grateful if I am accredited.

I have also taken information or ideas from other Logic Pro tutorials and where I have done so I have accredited this to the relevant user, this is just simply a channel to help the up and coming producers of today with everything in one place!

  • Very helpful, and I love that you used Thrice's "The Artist In The Ambulance". Awesome song. If I may ask, where did you locate the individual tracks for the song?

  • @xcrashthiscar789 Cheers for the comment. I will in bx you,.

  • hey man sick video... but do you compress your drums singly and then do a parelle compression or just straight to the parallel compression???

  • @TheEntertainmentKO I think this has been discussed on the comments already but...There are no rules, I personally (depending on genre) compress first on individual channels to achieve the sound I want for the drum kit, then use Parallel as a boost for choruses etc (so automate the Aux channel to turn up for extra kick in the chorus).

  • @101MTL ahh nice one cheers pal ill giv it a tinkle sweet vidweos btw

  • @TheEntertainmentKO Cool cheers bro, let me know how you get on

  • I often use this method on pretty much all my tracks, People often wonder how I get my drums so loud and clean, recently I made a track with a friend and his mix sounded really quiet and had to have heavy mastering and processing. With this technique in hand I tidied it up for him & he couldn't believe the difference. I love the idea of being able to really shape ur drums this way & make them sound punchy & clean. Its an old school method but one which will always be used. Great video!
