This set of idents lasted from March till September 2002 un until the relaunch of the channel as 'five'. This is s clean version of the ident without the anouncer.

  • The other colours were better, like the orange as this looked similar to ITV at the tome but still an excellent logo that beats "five"

  • this logo is still better than the new one

  • @BeresfordProductions The new logo sucks. I for one preferred Five instead of Channel 5.

  • The view count is nearly 9,000!

  • these were cool idents!

  • These were cool and neat idents from the late Channel 5 at that time. Except that it's likely these were just stopgaps as the 'five' rebrand, logo etc was coming in just 6 months.

It could have been better if these were included through the original Channel 5 Idents as there were hardly variations of this such as another background colour...

  • True, but the 1997 ones were made at a time when Channel 5 had no idea which direction it was going in, with random scenes of elevators and hitch-hiking. What did that have to do with a TV channel? Five eventually believed it was all about celebrity and reality, but to be honest I don't think they've ever known what direction they're going in.

  • But the 1997-2000 idents were very good too.

The 2002-2005? (i.e 'five') were quite bad too, and cheap. You know, the one with weedkiller and random stuff.

The current ones are o.k, but still a bit random

  • Before this, Channel 5 always had an identity that made you think the channel was very tacky. Cheesy celebs doing/saying cheesy things before a cheesy jingle starts with a cheesy looking logo, ripped out of a wall that must have been made of gift wrapping. These were much more classy; it's a shame they only lasted six months, they should have lasted longer.
