The class C Trolleybus was based upon an AEC chassis and was the standard 30 footer seating 70 passengers. The C3's were the most distinctive of all London's trolleybuses as they were fitted with rather handsome rear wheel spats which they retained for their entire lifetime. This model is of C3 Trolleybus Number 289 which operated from Stonebridge Park Depot in the 1950s. At one time this Trolleybus did work on route 628 running between Clapham Junction and Craven Park. The last C3 trolleybus was number 314 being retired from Finchley depot on 11th November 1959.
The last tram ran into New Cross depot on 6th July 1952, London's first great mistake, and on 8th May 1962, 70 year old driver Albert West eased class L3 trolleybus number 1521 into Fulwell depot and the era of London's trolleybus was ended London's second great mistake!
What a fantastic model! I had Meccano as a boy and dreamed of building either a Blackpool railcoach or Manchester Trolleybus (as both seen by me as a lad!) but had to wait over 30 years to realise that ambition. Still love the idea of meccano....

Many thanks for your comment. As an early teenager a friend and myself used to ride the London Trolleybusses on the Red Rover all day tickets. I think we traveled the entire system and visited every depot. The C3's were always a favourite and I have wanted to build this model for many years. Because of the scale some compromises had to be made. for instance the window spacing and there is one less stair to the upper deck.
Best wishes
