Another nice quiet piece which was my final out of the lot.

Marks for this one 17 out of 20.

Really enjoyed taking these exams, great fun.

Watch this space for Grade 2 work in progress.

  • Ok, Thanks very much ! Oh by the way, ive only been playing guitar for about seven months, and im completely self taught so thanks for your help. What does "sight read" mean ? And is it very hard to learn to read music? Thanks

    Charlie.

  • Sight read means play as you read, like reading a book aloud.

Its not too hard but it all depends on what you are trying to play, obvious sight reading a grade 8 piece is harder then sight reading a grade 1 piece.

it taks a lot of practice to sight read, keep at it.

  • Ive got a question, if you go to rockschool to play the guitar, do you have to read and play by notation or can you do tab ? Thanks! Great performance man !

  • Its all tabbed and with notation.

You do need to be able to read notation but not "sight read", key signature, note duration and so on.......

  • what a stupid comment! some people need to start with the basics! learning through the grades help people learn the basics and then build on this. don't be a complete tool.

  • that was good mate i got the same marks for this song...i wish grade2 was as easy as this :(

  • @MediaExtra Easy - get yourself a copy of the William Bay book called 'Mastering the Guitar 1A'. You'll be reading in no time at all. Move on to 'Music Reading' for Guitar by David Oakes - that will get you up the neck more than the first 5 frets

  • @pedroEmaj7 Also, there are sections of the exams where in you are required to sightread. Well, you can do sightreading or improvisation, until grades 6-8 I think, wherein you must do both.

  • ive been playing guitar for just under 2 years now. il be doing grade 8 in the next few months, already learning 667. i havnt done 1-7. practice makes perfect, you can play a hard song if you give yourself enough time to learn it.

  • I'm thinking about doing the same - just get a grade 8 book and try and get in for the next bunch of things - then when you say "I'm going to be doing a grade 8 in (whatever month)" maybe they'll give you a conditional offer based on you getting a decent grade in it - that's what I'm hoping at least :p

  • dude i really reccomend doing some grades like 5 r summin before you go straight into 8 because you really need to get into the vibe of doing em, and its not always the difficulty of the pieces thats hard

  • Agreed, grade 8 is over 50 quid... :@

  • Cool :) Its either that or I'm gonna do a course in Computer Games Design, which I think would be great fun lol but it also has that aspects of media and story writing in it which can relate to Music Video directing... lol xD

  • music video... i can imagine it being under media and film studies of some kind!

  • Aw man cool, I actually wanted to do a course at uni in Music Technology, like its hard to find a decent course on stuff I actually want :P Like I would love to be a music video director lol but what sorta course do I need for that? Lol.
