Ashanti cites Ibn Khaldun and Ibn Battuta as having uniquely African sensibilities, part of a pan-African heritage. The author of the book gives quotes showing Ibn Battuta and Ibn Khaldun to be racists, thats how I became skeptical about translations. How could Pan Africanists consider Ibn Battuta and Ibn Khaldun part of the African heritage of those two writers were racist? Click on the above link to see what I mean
