This song, sung by Keya Chatterjee, is dedicated to Taslima Nasrin and her monumentous task of emancipating women who are regularly abused by men!

It is my translation of Tagore's "Ami Tomari Matir Kanya" written in Bengali.

  • Ahh!! a Great song and a great dedication to a Great Personality like Taslima Nasreen, a humanist, and a writer with a pen of truth...thanks smt.Keya Chatterjee..for such a heart-rending song! May it console as well as give a little peace & enthusiasm to that Lady with a tormented soul....Didi, wherever you are,no matters, you are still a daughter of your soil, the very Bangla Maati...with regards & lots of Love...

  • @TheSaritaAhmed I have always admired Dr. Nasreen for her candid exposures. Frankly, I don't think the world understands her at all. Thanks for appreciating.

  • Somehow Rabindranath had realized the human rape of the 'maataa' even in those days.

Females have been subjected, through the ages, to demeanings and abouses by the males (god's kind). What the femeles had to tolerate (still having to) because they had less bodilily strength than the human bulls is horrendous. It continues today even though the age of intellect is here.

  • @SuruchiSangeet So true! Furthermore, "eve teasing" and "eve taunting" has become a part of the Bengali, albeit entire Indian, culture! In every other civilized country, man an woman are treated on a equal footing. In India it seems the "jilted male" finds solace in dishing out abuse.

  • The rest: A 'dharma goshthi', mostly, is driven by their creed. The creed stems from the religious books (codes of conduct to adhere to). Religion instructs mass to mistreat, disrespect and distrust women. It also instructs men to treat women as pleasure objects, child producing machines, slaves and expendable like domesticated beasts.

It is a blessing that all human beings do not buy into this barbabrism of religions.

  • All men are not bull human (just a male animal like bull elephant) and all women are not human cows, thank goodness. In indian philosophy God is genderless: "....na cheshitaa naiba tasya lingam....". But instructions to treat women as cow human is incorporated in aa the Semetic religions and Hinduism (Manu Samhita).

  • @SuruchiSangeet I don't want to sound snobbish, but not all MEN subscribe to the form of barbarism you describe. Generally it is the "lesser male", possessing lesser faculty, who resorts to subjugating tactics; all in the name of religion. The corollary to this, if any, is that for any religion to thrive it has to embrace the membership of the masses. Ergo, the perversions are included as a "doctrines".

To me, belief in the guidance given by God is very personal; I don't need to follow others.

  • In the three religions stemming from the Middle east god is a man. We understand that to be a man one has to have a penis. The females in all these religions are beings with lower mental and physical qualities and supposed to be stay subservient to the bull humans. It is very sad to see this barbarism and disrespect is taking over India like aids when they have godesses and great female philosophers (only India)

  • 'Dharma dharma korey maanush gollaye gyalo'. The nature and the females are for the enjoyment of the human bulls - says religion.

  • Society should teach men that it is OK and better to masturbate and get sexual release, than to forcibly inflict sex on another human being. Even the animal kingdom doesn't allow rape. The female animal has to be on "heat" before a male animal will copulate with her. And we humans consider ourselves to be higher on the evolutionary ladder?
