  • Ashok Kumar's first salary in Bombay Talkies Studios was Rs. 75 that was raised to Rs. 150 and then over some time to Rs. 250. He lived in a small rented house in Malad as it was near the studios. When he got Rs. 250 for the first time, he could not sleep for fear that someone might rob him as Malad was a remote area in late 1930s and early 40s.The first thing he did was to deposit those 250 rupees in a post office. By mid 40s the same Ashok Kumar was getting Rs. 100,000 for a single film.

  • @orientlover1

Thanks for sharing this interesting bit of information.

  • Thanks for uploading this great movie. Shouldn't the release year be changed fron 1942 to 1943? Also, the video pixel count for the parts 5 through 8 went down from 360p to 240p. Couldn't those be also uploaded at 360p? Thanks!

  • @tommanful

The Year of Release will be checked. The First 4 parts are in MPEG-1 format and hence have the resolution. The rest have lower resolution. My new uploads are all in MPEG-1 format.

  • Top ten stars all time Ashok Kumar Dilip Kumar Raj Kapoor Dev Anand Shammi Kapoor Rajesh Khanna Dharmendra Amitabh Bachchan Shahrukh Khan Aamir Kahn And my hot favourite Ashok Kumar I call him "BABA-e-Acting" This movie remained biggest blockbuster of hindi cinema (1943-1957) 14 years long period and finally Naya Daur (1957) broke its record, after some months Mother India (1957) broke Naya Daur's record

  • Famous Urdu short story writer Saadat Hassan Manto worked for Bombay Talkies and Filmistan studios from Aug. 1942 to Sep. 1947. He was a close friend of Ashok Kumar and his S. Mukerjee. He has written a detailed article on Ashok Kumar in his book Ganje Farishte (Bald Angels) which contains articles on leading personalities of Bombay film industry in those years like actor Shyam(who fell off a horse and died), Nargis, Jaddan Bai, Naseem Bano, Baburao Patel, V.H Desai and several others.

  • Film Kismat was released in 1943. However, there is an older movie also entitled Kismet that was released in 1932.

  • Ashok Kumar was very smart in young age,, Nice movie

  • Ok, apparently if I read Swedish I would be able to get subtitles for this but.... LOL can any of you wonderful folks tell me how to get a version with English Subs? It doesn't seem to exist. My Hindi is improving but I'm still mostly clueless. *weep*

  • I always wanted to see this movie as i have read that this movie was THE BLOCK BUSTER in it's times. I m curious to see. Thanks for uploading!!! :)
