Ableton Live: Poor man's groove quantize

The point was using "the groove" (slightly off count natural sounding rhythm) of one clip as a template to change "the groove" of a separate clip. He got 4/4 robot stomp to sound funky. Not dissimilar to using the "Get User Groove" command on a REX file in Reason. Same level of workaround pain as you have to make the REX file first. ...but until we get real midi cloning like Logic or ACID it's pretty damn slick.....

thank you for spamming youtube with your shitty videos

why not just upgrade...you can do this is 8 so easily
-
hmmm... it's a good idea :)

By selecting a range (eg 2 bars), then consolidating that, you ensure that the clip you're left with is exactly 2 bars long. Its a habit i've gotten into, it can be useful if you want to loop a clip for instance (without it drifting out of time).
-
why did you consolidate the clip?

Nice, im just about to buy it thats all.
I think RMX has the best features for groove quantize. I can never quite extract a groove in ableton and apply it to my own patterns with the desired effect. Really annoys me.

Yes. live 8 is a huge improvement in this area.

Can you define 'real groove quantize support' for me please.
Does the groove pool in ableton 8 class as 'real groove quantize'?
-
can someone help me with quantization? my timing is crap...
What program are you using to capture the screen? Is it following your mouse around automatically=

The screen recording software is called iShowU (for OSX). It includes a mouse follow option.
