Seven Brides for Seven Brothers - dual takes

This film was shot twice, once in 1.78:1 (the top image) and once in 2.35:1 (CinemaScope - the bottom image). Since the same playback track was used, it's possible to synch up the two takes for comparison.

Here are three numbers: Bless Your Beautiful Hide, Wonderful, Wonderful Day, and Sobbin' Women.

In comparing the two films, I was surprised to find that some scenes are different takes, but many are the same performance filmed with two cameras at once. I've marked a couple of them. So not every scene was shot twice, as director Stanley Donen has said.

That was great work! I'll have to check and see if you did this with Oklahoma as well. I knew Oklahoma was filmed twice, but didn't know Seven Brides was also filmed twice. Thank you for doing this!

I was so disappointed with the DVD release of the Todd-AO print of "Oklahoma" that I couldn't even look at it. I gave it to my parents!
