This film was shot twice, once in 1.78:1 (the top image) and once in 2.35:1 (CinemaScope - the bottom image). Since the same playback track was used, it's possible to synch up the two takes for comparison.

Here are three numbers: Bless Your Beautiful Hide, Wonderful, Wonderful Day, and Sobbin' Women.

In comparing the two films, I was surprised to find that some scenes are different takes, but many are the same performance filmed with two cameras at once. I've marked a couple of them. So not every scene was shot twice, as director Stanley Donen has said.

  • That was great work! I'll have to check and see if you did this with Oklahoma as well. I knew Oklahoma was filmed twice, but didn't know Seven Brides was also filmed twice. Thank you for doing this!

I was so disappointed with the DVD release of the Todd-AO print of "Oklahoma" that I couldn't even look at it. I gave it to my parents!
