@habfan24 Geology is based on the rocks. Science makes theories to explain the facts.

@habfan24 You probibly have never seen a river at the bottom of a V shaped canyon. There is one in every canyon, that is how the canyons got there dummy.
It doesn't matter how long the canyon took to cut, you can't explain all the layers exposed in the canyon.
The Coconino Sandstone is from wind blown, desert sands.

@gregrutz LOL, you actually believe a river made the Grand Canyon in million of years??? Wow, you really have to think for yourself, try it.
-
@habfan24 look at this scrub, doesn't know what theory means in the scientific context. I bet you think a theory is something that graduates into a law after proven.

@habfan24 The ''geologic column'' in the text books is a TIME SCALE, Not layers of rock.
Geology explains where the rock layers come from, read up on the Grand Canyon layers.
Scientists study the layers exposed by the canyon. Creationists are too busy trying to prove the river didn't cut the canyon in 6 Million years.
And you have no idea what a Scientific Theory is.

@gregrutz It is THEORY! We cannot replicate the mechanisms theorized to produce the minerals and rocks along with their layers. Therefore since it cannot be reproduced, it is a THEORY! Nothing has been PROVEN. Did you know the only place all those geological layers exist is in a text book.
-
@habfan24 No, Geology is the study of the history of the earth. It is based on the rock evidence. The Theory of Plate Tectonics was proven in the 1950's.

How did Mt. St. Helens get there? I must have erupted many times. Uniformitarianism says the PROCESSES of the past are the same, not that things were slow, gradual or uniform.
What? This is the stupidest video that i've ever seen or heard of.... Who lets these people on the computer?

Etna is a volcano, it has been erupting for thousands of years. There is a layer of limestone going under it. The limestone is mainly sea shell, so there was a shallow sea there at one time, before the volcanos first eruption. I wonder how long it took to lay down a thick layer of fossil shells. You don't need carbon dating to guess.
