Latin Dancing Conversation

Here's a video just got from the producers of "La Epoca - The Lost Rhythms in Salsa" that is of a casual conversation between dancers at a studio in New York where they're just talk about what some of the dancing seems like sometimes. It doesn't matter whether it's "on 1" or "on 2" what's important is to enjoy dancing and to make sure that they the person we're dancing with is also having fun.

Yea its ok to have fun and all or to do the "sabor" part....but what does "sabor" mean? its an essence that involves culture, background, and most of all history...no one here talks about all that and thats also where the error is. The instructors don't talk about it and these people don't talk about it either....they just say palladium days blah blah blah....its WAY more than that. And yes some of these people don't even know what they are talking about and its all talk thats it.

Nineinchsalsero, I totally agree that established and knowledgeable dancers with credentials should be answering these questions and hopefully they will when the movie comes out. At the same time though, in order to relate to newer dancers, I think it's important to represent all major schools of thought so that these issues can be debated and people can learn. Yes, Frankie Martinze and Jimmy Anton have those credentials I hope they share their opinion on such matters, you know?

SalsaCritic2 .. I do agree with you; I'm not disagreeing ... all that I'm saying is that neither of us knows what the movie will end up being. I saw the first film and it was really well done. We're just seeing bits and pieces here. Not all dance shools are at fault you're absolutely right! I agree totally. And Bad fundamentals? I 110% agree with you and isn't that the first film was about? Take a few lessons then become an instructor is unforunately what happens.

I agree and the question that was posed should be answered by well established and knowledgeable dancers with credentials. Dancers that can give an international or historical perspective might also put things in context. New dancers can answer other types of questions credibly. Anyone can make a film, but this film needs some direction in terms of evaluating credibility.

whats at fault is the instructors who are becoming instructors to early and opening up dance schools without possessing the credentials or experience to teach or lead and dance school, to many people are teaching dance fundamentals incorrectly cause of there lack of experience. and why is that? cause to many people learn 1 or 2 turn patterns and then decide they wanna teach somebody. and this is what trickles down into the students that they teach "bad Fundamentals"

im sorry Mr Mambo dancer i would have to disagree with your opinion on this matter due to the comments that were made in this documentary to sit there and public say that the dance schools are setting the tone of why salsa is going down i would have to disagree, ill tell you what correct response shouldve been made regarding the dance schools, you cant sit on you tube and say the dance schools are at fault, cause not all dance schools are at fault.

i can't say one way or the other who does and does not deserve to be in this film but judging by the comments already posted I'm guessing that the producers selected their interviewees wisely to get people already critizing what they see in this trailer. i think it comes down to just having fun when you dance who cares how you dance, you know? at the same time i think there's probably a really good reason why certain people were selected for the film and others not.

to many people commenting in this video who dont got the knowledge the ONLY PERSON IN THIS VIDEO WHO SHOULD HAVE SAID SOMETHING IS THE LITTLE CHICK IN BLACK CAUSE IVE SEEN HER DANCE AND SHE KNOWS ABOUT DANCE. the others need to take a seat and just stop critizing how other people feel the music like u said theres no wrong or right way to feel the music just dance and have fun, everyone else who has a comment in this video shut up and take a class!!!
