  • Either your GPU is overheating, or you don't have enough ram. Or maybe it's just because of fraps... (First 30 seconds)

Can I ask what settings do you use?

    (Resolution,Vsync,everything.)

  • @Kormanyfg, i have 6GB of ram, seems to be good for now, i think what slows me down is the CPU, AMD Phenom II x4 2.8GHz,

My resolution was 1280x720, with Vsync disabled, every setting set to High and other settings such as Vehicle Density set to 50, i think the Object Distance was about 32,

GTA IV seems to require a very fast CPU, 3.0 GHz or more as far as i know, it's not optimised, i can play, for example, Mafia II at 1080p all maxed and 40+ FPS,

  • @dinizgames By reviewing the whole video again, are you really sure your ram is working fine? Are they ddr3 or ddr2 ? They don't differ in brand ?

Be sure to check out bios or cpu-z to see what hz are they operating on!

It could also be a broken harddrive. How old is it ?

  • @Kormanyfg, i guess it's working fine, they don't differ in brand either and it's all DDR3; I'm using CPU-Z now and their "DRAM Frequency" is about 533.3 MHz and in general "NB Frequency" is about 2000.0 MHz,

As for the video you sent me with the 630 processor, think think the main problem here is that my 820 CPU is just 2.8 GHz, in that video that CPU is about 3.5 GHz CPU, i guess that's what makes the difference in GTA IV performance,

  • @dinizgames It is indeed a very demanding and unoptimized game, but it should run very smooth on your Cpu, when it runs great on an Athlon II X4 630.

    (Example: /watch?v=v1n13SBbyGc)

I know that the HD 6770 isn't a high-end card, but by what I saw on this site it should run great with everything at Very High, at least on 1280x720 with Vsync off.

Is your PSU enough for this config? (500 W is recommended)

  • @dinizgames yeah, you're right man.. thanks.. :)

  • @ThePakenshet, that's cool man, Crysis 2 is pretty smooth over all, you should give the Hi-Rez a try when you get the chance :)

  • @dinizgames yeah.. no problem dude.. and hey, i just patched my crysis 2 with dx11 but no hi-rez texture pack yet .. :( i play at Ultra @ 900p and it was so incredibly smooth gameplay experience.. ;)

  • @ThePakenshet, yeah i patched the game, still get framedrops, i might reinstall it and try some tweaks, thanks for the help by the way,

  • @dinizgames uhm.. okay... did you patch the game? b'coz others says that if you patch the game, the FPS will be higher than previous.. idk if its true..
