  • I have never heard that, but it makes sense. The disposer's motor does not have a cooling fan, so the water in the upper half would serve to keep the housing cool, and therefore the motor as well.

  • Are potato peelings bad? I've heard they clog the plumbing?

  • nope, they will not clog the drain if there is good water flow, and the disposer is 1/2 way decent...

  • you know that you can get quieter and more chewable ones that wont clog up

  • what color were these older waste kings? that's too bad that the company was bought out by anaheim. i hate the way anaheims sound. even the ones that are "sound insulated" sound horrible. i'm glad we never had anaheims. my Godparents had a really old sinkmaster that scared the hell out of me when i was a small kid HAHA!

  • I have a waste king ss30 that came with my apartment. It has the smallest motor I've ever seen, but it's by far the best residential disposer I've ever used. If I ever have to pick out another disposer, it will probably be a waste king.

  • Waste King by far, its stainless steel and really grinds!

  • not bad for a 1/2 hp disposer.
