  • Just wondering , I see you using a GEM blade to trim leather , there must be a million good trimming knives out there why are you using a gem blade..... habit ?

  • @outbackdigital Pretty much habit and also I get them in big quantities so I can always have a sharp edge. I use other knives too though.

  • This Japanese guy doing leatherwork and in particular his cutting method for filagree work , is amazing , check out his Sonic Cutter in action at his youtube channel "mijincokid"

  • @outbackdigital That guy is a true master of every aspect from his tooing through to the dyeing and construction. And, yes, the filigree too. Makes me wish I had focused on more practice. Thanks for pointing me to his channel. There's tons to watch on there.

  • Great video, great bags! Now I wish I had a motorcycle and some leather :p

  • @MDVarer Thanks - no need to have a motorcycle - you could make bags for other things. Change the shape a bit, put a shoulder strap on and it could be a camera bag (do they still have those?) or a purse even.

  • @tassiespirit If I remember correctly the font was 'Cathedral'

  • Love the font you use, can you please tell me which font you use - by the way, great job there, love the finish you give the leather.

  • @alzathoth You'll need a cylander arm machine that will sew a minimum of a half inch thickness - remember, few projects require just sewing one layer. There are a lot of machines that say they sew leather, but they're talking about garment leather - a whole different animal. One of the most affordable is Artisan (Google them), but you're still talking well over a grand - closer to two. Good luck

  • i am looking at buying a sewing machine for leathercraft. will a Pfaff 1222E sew 8oz leather?
