do you think an r2r ladder would make a good dac? the other one of your videos (I hope its yours..) titled annoybox had a rather unwanted disturbance in the sound playback..so I was hoping that adding an r2r ladder would solve the problem..and then i thought it won't harm to ask if you've experimented with it before...

Its from the soundtrack of an anime called .hack//sign which is about people going into comas while playing a wow-like RPG, and discovering they are trapped in the game, and follows one such person trying to escape. The anime accompanied an adventure game that tells the story from the meatspace perspective.

I've been wanting to make such a player for a time now, good to see you reply to other guys :D
How do you read the data from the SD, I mean there must be a format, for files etc etc etc...
And I guess that then you provide the data to D/A...
Guess you must try out some atXmegas, they have a pretty good D/A build in them...

I have a web page on the project. The link is in the video info.
But shortly: i just read and write raw data from the SD card (block by block) and I got the data into the SD card by using a Linux computer as it offers easy access to raw storage devices.
File system based access (using FAT) is also possible. However it was too clunky for writing data.
The next time I'll probably try to use a separate D/A chip as the TDA1543 I used didn't work very well.

i can see a mic can you record and save a wav file in tha AVR ??

Yes you can. Recording is easy as AVR has a built-in A/D converter. For details see my web page , you can find the link at the video info.
