Here is a Dixon Lesley hole cutter shown trial cutting a 102mm (4") diameter hole through a segment of 22mm thick medium carbon steel tubular section from a de-commissioned offshore jacket fabrication. The hole was made in approximately 2.5 minutes using a standard 1½ HP (1.25kW) Bridgeport milling machine at a rotational speed of 100 rpm and with hand feed.
Dixon-Lesley cutters work for most materials and are regularly employed cutting stainless, inconel, duplex, titanium, and other difficult materials in aerospace, subsea, oil, hot tapping, gas and pipeline applications. All Dixon-Lesley cutters are fitted with replaceable tips which may be re-ground by the user many times .
