Shaykh Ibrahim refutes a difficult student on the fate of abu talib. Whether he dies as a mushrik or not. He concludes both opinions are valid but respect must be shown.

    Obviously if the surah was 9AH, so it came 12 years after Abu taalibs death. Therefore it obviously applies to people who have died as non believers, I.e Abu taalib

  • Surah Taubah was revealed in the 9th year of Hijra.

    Abu Talib died in the 3rd year before Hijra.

    Thus there is a 12 year gap between the two events meaning the verse about praying for your polytheist relations has nothing to do with Abu Talib (as)

  • @QuranTafseer ... That is no proof he did not become a Muslim. Muwiya (Rad) did not accept Islam from the beginning, he took time before he made the decision. So get lost.

  • Abu Jahl and ‘Abdullah bin Abi Omaiyah addressing him said: "Abu Talib, would you abandon the religion of ‘Abdul-Muttalib?" The Messenger of Allâh (Allah bless him and give him peace) constantly requested him (to accept his offer), and (on the other hand) was repeated the same statement (of Abu Jahl and ‘Abdullah bin Abi Omaiyah) — till Abu Talib gave his final decision and he stuck to the religion of ‘Abdul-Muttalib and refused
