I have lived in Whyalla since 1970 and I have seen many changes some are not for the better, What has happened? I now do not want to live here, or in South Australia for that matter. Whyalla and many other regional towns have been left to deteriorate beyond repair It is time for me to leave I cannot stand it anymore

  • OK. I guess I haven't been there for some time.

    hope it improves.

  • @sandy3721 I hope it improves, I plan on selling in the next 4 years I would like to be able to make some sort of profit so I can purchase elsewhere

  • I think you are trying to make it look bad in this video. every town has its bad areas and good areas.you have only focused on the bad!

Now do one with only the good areas.

  • @sandy3721 who wants to live or invest in a town that looks dirty and unkept. There is a good percentage of people in this town spouting off about their Rights to live where and how they like. What about the rights of others in this town, who have to live with cockroaches, snakes, lizards spiders mice and or rats and noxious weeds invading their property cos the nieghbours either can't or refuse to keep it tidy. Yes I have focused on the Bad cos it needs to be for this particular video

  • @aeonflux67 most defineatly. time for people power to kick off again.

  • @sandy3721 I am pointing out that something needs to be done, whether it be Whyalla City Council, or community groups helping out, the point that property owners either cannot or will not tidy up. Sure some towns have their good and their bad areas, I am questioning WHY it has been allowed to get to this stage, as it is not just in one area this is dotted throughout the town. Council needs to enforce property owners to keep their properties reasonably maintained

  • @aeonflux67 They had rush hours where u found it difficult to cross the roads then...like Playford Ave as shift changes at the Steel Works and ShipYards and "support" industries kicked in. I look at Whyalla then (with all its regional govt offices and Telecom/Telstra regional office etc...now mostly gone to Adelaide) and think this is a reflection of what is actually happening to Australia. Even Melbourne where I live is going to the dogs under all governments.

  • @aeonflux67 I dont think politicians and people who want cheap televisions sets so they can stay home on the dole understand. But when I was growing up in Whyalla in the mid 70's it was awesome. Even with a no good drunken/abusive dad and single parents (dad) family set up it was a booming place. Everyone had jobs, cars, holidays, even the commission houses had nice lawns and were looked after. It was near 40k population and tipped to go higher. Then politicians got involved as I said and pppfft

  • @patellaman I know what happened. lived in Whyalla 1969 - 1983 and 1986 - 1988. The Liberal Govt of Malcolm Fraser decided along with Treasurer John Howard that ship building subsidies were useless as we couldnt compete with Japan. Hence there goes the Shipyards. Then fellow political noobs since decided we dont need tariffs. Then came imported Steel from China. No tariffs hit country areas bad. Just ask any place that had clothing, textile and footwear factories. So no protection = no industry

  • @ShesThe1yup Eyre High in bad need of repair, State Government don't look after it. Long St looking good after upgrade of yard and gym built but my kids are Samaritan kids good reason why too :)
