Here's a crane fly in Fern Canyon (Humboldt Co., Calif), possibly laying eggs in the stream bed. I've never seen this behavior before, but since the abdomen is being stabbed into the stream (water was about 3 mm deep) repeatedly for about 2 minutes, I think it was ovipositing. Can anyone confirm?
