After driving from Denver to Greeley to look for trains to chase, I had just enough time to go to Cheyenne, Wyoming, and hope for trains to show up within one hour, and they did. This video might have captured the last journey of C60AC #7571 before its renumbering and conversion to C6044AC - it was running DIC (Dead In Consist).

  • Does 7571 still have its Deutz HDL engine?

  • @cweis127: I believe I caught the last trip of the 7571 with the HDL. It was heading to Denver Burnham Shops for the FDL conversion.

  • Was the lead locomotive in the second clip a GEVO?

  • Nope, that's an AC4400, or C44AC. GEVO's radiator section is different (more complex shapes).

  • Did you se any long coal drags?

  • Not within that one hour, but I did see quite a few BNSF coal drags in Denver.

  • @cchan006 So it probably doesnt have its original engine....:(

  • Nice video.

  • The tanks on the flatcars was a nice catch!

  • Was railroad crossing accidents that severe in Illinois? The reason I asked is because every locomotive or railway named in Illinois has the Operation Lifesaver logo on their locomotives.

  • NIce catch of C60AC 7571, I caught sister 7579 on Jan 19th. Also,I have recently seen a couple of C60AC's which were wearing numbers 6900, and 6923. They still had "C60AC" on the cab sides
